WG2 and 4 Meeting in Finland
The WG2&4 Meeting will take place in Masala, Finland (close to Helsinki) on 10-11 October. 2016, at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute and co-organized by the University of Helsinki, Department of Physics. The main topic of the meeting is preparation of the ITN proposals and how to boost collaborative work within BigSkyEarth network.
During the WG1&3 meeting in Bucharest, we converged on three topics for the Innovative Training Networks call:
- Hyperspectral Imaging in Remote Sensing and Astronomy
- Engaging Mobile Data to Increase Disaster Resilience
- Advancing Meteor Plasma Research
BigSkyEarth will reimburse up to 20 people (from BigSkyEarth COST participating countries) for this WG meeting (not offered any more as the quota of 20 people has been reached!) Participants who will contribute to the ITN proposals have a priority in the list of travel and accommodation reimbursements.

Meeting Venue
The meeting will be held at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (Geodeetinrinne 2, FI-02430 Masala, Finland). See the venue location of Google Maps.
It is located in Kirkkonummi municipality, which is part of the Helsinki area and can be easily reached by the Helsinki transport system. More details on travel instructions are given below.

Arrival Instructions
Traveling to Helsinki:
- by plane: Take a flight to Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport
- by ferry: There are daily ferries arriving from Stockholm (Sweden), Tallinn (Estonia), Rostock (Germany), and St. Petersburg (Russia).See e.g. www.sales.vikingline.com or www.tallinksilja.com
- by train: It is possible to take a train to Helsinki from certain locations. There is significant discount for 6 and more passengers traveling together.
From the Helsinki Airport to the venue:
- The Helsinki Region Transport webpage can be used to find out the exact route.
- You can come from the Helsinki Airport to the Helsinki downtown by train or bus. Travel time to Helsinki main railway station is about 35 minutes. This ticket costs 5,50 euro and can be bought from the driver. Ticket is valid by the expiration time printed on a ticket and it is valid in all communal traffic, including tram, metro and regional train lines within 2 zones. You will need a 3-zone extended regional ticket to get to Masala (Kirkkonummi municipality) both, from Helsinki downtown or from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The easiest way to reach conference place from the Helsinki downtown is the S, U or Y train. The journey takes about 35 minutes.
