The XXX Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics
The XXX Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics, organized by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), focusses on Big Data Analysis in Astronomy. The School, to be held in San Cristobal de La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain) from 4 to 10 November 2018, will admit around 60-70 PhD students and young Post-Docs. (more…)
Apply to the BigSkyEarth Training School 2018: GPU-based analytics and data science
BigSkyEarth is organising its 2018 Training School on “GPU-based analytics and data science” to be held at the Vicomtech Research Center, Spain, in April 3-9, 2018. Key practitioners from the astronomy, the Earth observation and the computer science domains will be participating in the School contributing the perspectives of both the academic and the industrial sector. BigSkyEarth workshop in Novi Sad
BigSkyEarth COST Action organizes its third workshop, with the topic “Big Data processing in the forthcoming era of ultra-high resolutions“, in Novi Sad, Serbia, on February 26-27, 2018, at the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad. The workshop participants will discuss the challenges that arise with the expansion of remote sensing market using UAVs and with the expansion of astronomical sky surveys and airborne astronomy. WG3&4 Meeting in Bulgaria: working on joint projects and books
BigSkyEarth is organizing a Working Group meeting in Kamchia, Bulgaria, on October 12 & 13, 2017. The meeting’s main focus will be the work on joint projects and books and online repository. WG1&2 Meeting in Prague: toward joint projects and books
BigSkyEarth is organizing a Working Group meeting in Prague, on June 30 & July 1, 2017. The meeting combines presentations on astroinformatics advancements and discussions on joint research projects, books and training material. The first day is shared with the Astroinformatics Symposium at EWASS conference, while the second day is mostly focused on work toward possible joint projects and BigSkyEarth research book and repository of training materials. Call for Short Term Scientific Missions
This is a call for Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) within BigSkyEarth COST Action. Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) are exchange visits aimed at supporting individual mobility, strengthening existing networks and fostering collaboration between researchers. A STSM should specifically contribute to the scientific objectives of the COST Action, whilst at the same time allowing those partaking in the missions to learn new techniques, gain access to specific data, instruments and/or methods not available in their own institutions/organisations.
STSM applicants must be engaged in an official research programme as a PhD Student or postdoctoral fellow or can be employed by, or affiliated to, an Institution or legal entity which has within its remit a clear association with performing research. The institutions/organisations where applicants pursue their main strand of research are considered as Home institutions. The Host institution is the institution/organisation that will host the successful applicant. (more…)

BigSkyEarth COST Action organizes its second workshop, with the topic “Big Data processing and management concepts for new platforms“, in Sopron, Hungary, on February 23-24, 2017.
